What I’ve Learned From Working with Jasmine

Table of Contents

It has been an amazing experience working with Jasmine for the past two and a half years. I have watched her fearlessly take on new positions, from partner of a firm to now owning and successfully managing her own law firm – Jasmine Daya & Co. Working closely with Jasmine as her senior legal assistant, I have been lucky to witness her work ethic firsthand and have learned quite a lot from her.

Being an ethnic female myself, I understand the challenges and barriers that we face in and outside of the workforce. Women of colour are still underrepresented in the legal profession relative to their counterparts – and this disparity becomes even more evident in leadership positions. When Jasmine walks into work every morning, she reinforces and normalizes the idea that women can hold positions of power and respect.  Jasmine has shown me that being a leader is not just a distant goal but that it is attainable with hard work, determination, and consistency.

It is inspiring for me to see Jasmine’s entrepreneurship as I hope to one day own a successful business.  Jasmine demonstrates that it is possible to pursue multiple ventures simultaneously, and it does not take away from each other. Not only does she own and manage a law firm, but she is an author, a wife, and a mother of three. I often wonder if she has the same number of hours in the day as I do!

Another important quality of Jasmine that is inspiring for me is her passion to advocate for her clients. As we regularly sit down to discuss files, I can see her genuine concern for her clients. Whether it is a small or big claim, she will always dedicate the same amount of effort and hard work to ensure the best results possible. I aim to instill the same amount of passion and dedication in all of my endeavours.
